Why Choose Linen Guide

Why Choose Linen?

There are so many fabrics to choose from to jazz up your dining table or hang by the oven for your tea towel, but why choose linen? In the past, it's never been the go-to commercial fabric for kitchen and tableware, but linen has been around for thousands of years and used by the likes of the Egyptians for wrapping mummies...ooOOoo.

Linen is a natural fabric made from the humble Flax Plant, and has been cultivated by humans from thousands of years. In fact, linen was one of the first plants that humans domesticated all those years ago. Thanks to its amazing qualities, and the rather long process of turning it into fabric, it was a fabric that was used by royalty and in very fine establishments.

So, what are the qualities? Well, for a table linen and tea towel you couldn't ask for a better made fabric. Linen is an incredibly durable fabric, and not only that it gets softer when washed. It's also perfect to catch any spills or messy fingers thanks to the Flax having a hollow fibre. This means it can absorb up 20% of its own weight before feeling damp, however the hollow fibre means more air flow through the fabric. So drying is a doddle and a super speedy process.

Oh and for those who love a good sneeze, linen is hypoallergenic, so no sneezing at the dinner table!

There we have it, the perfect fabric for your tea towels or tablecloths. Durable, absorbent and incredibly beautiful. Whether you like colour or a staple white, which ever you choose, you'll be sure to add personality to your kitchen or dining table with our tea towel and tablecloth selection.
